Apple picking season is upon us as cooler weather is right around the corner. As the season changes from summer to fall, let the changes remind you of the new you that you become every day. Take some time now to schedule time for self-care this season. Go for a walk and enjoy the changing colors of the leaves. Put aside a few minutes in the morning to meditate or write in your journal. Our mental health thrives on routine, so whether that means having a cup of coffee, spending time with your significant other, or enjoying some time with your pets, take time to develop a routine that reflects the you that you want to become.
We often define ourselves by some things we did in the past. Things we might regret or have feelings of shame around. This fall, I encourage you to live in the moment. Create the day you want to have. As M. Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I like to apply that concept to the changes I want to see in myself, too. Change requires action. We cannot continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results (as we have all heard). Action is what brings about change. Turn those actions into routines this fall, and you will be set to start out 2024 already living the changes you want to see.
